All 911 calls will be routed to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), to which the caller has to verbally provide her/his location or address, and other information. The PSAP is operated by a third party, who will be responsible for connecting your call to the appropriate emergency department. In case if you are unable to communicate or speak, the emergency respondent may not be able to dispatch units to you, or may only dispatch units to your last registered location, so it is your responsibility to keep all information up to date. However, your registered information, such as phone number and address, may not be available to the emergency respondent. Hence, you should always be prepared to provide your phone number and address when making the call.
